New Things Are Coming!

“And they spoke to all the congregation of the sons of Israel, saying, “The land which we passed through to spy out is an exceedingly good land. If the Lord is pleased with us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us—a land which flows with milk and honey. Only do not rebel against the Lord; and do not fear the people of the land, for they will be our prey. Their protection is gone from them, and the Lord is with us; do not fear them.” Numbers 14:7-9 (NASB)

When God asks us to do something new, it can be scary, can’t it? Often, we see the obstacles that lie before us, the enormity of what He’s inviting us to do, and we have the urge to turn and run in the opposite direction.

A couple of months ago, I found myself in a season of uncertainty about whether I heard the Lord’s voice or was just dreaming up new ideas. (I admit that I am a bit of a dreamer!) More than anything, I knew what I felt called to do was beyond the scope of my abilities. It was too large. Too hard. There were too many walls to climb, and I just didn’t know if I could do it.

As I talked with God about my concerns, He pointed me to Numbers 13 and 14 and the story of the twelve spies who went to Canaan. As I read the account, the Lord asked me very pointedly, “Will you be like one of the ten spies who believed they couldn’t do what I asked of them, or will you be like Caleb and Joshua who believed that though the odds were stacked against them that I, the Lord, would enable them to do what I asked? Do you trust that I am who I say I am and that I will do what I say I will do?”

Talk about being direct! As I reflected closer on Numbers 14:7-9, I saw that Joshua and Caleb not only believed it was God who would ensure success but, moreover, that if Israel did not take that step of faith with the Lord, it was rebellion.

When God asks us to do something, large or small, if our answer is anything other than “yes!” we are being disobedient and rebellious against Him. When we remember that our God is who He says He is and can do what He says He can do, scary steps of obedience become a lot easier!

What is the Lord calling you to do today? How will you respond?

Friend, in that moment two months ago when God directed me to read Numbers 13 and 14, I had a choice to make: I could be like one of the ten who said, “we can’t do this thing,” or I could be like Joshua and Caleb who said, “but our God can do this thing!” (I’m totally paraphrasing!) My response was, “Yes, Lord, I am in for whatever You have planned because I know YOU will do it!”

Two short months later, I am astounded at how He is working! God is moving obstacles and bringing His plans to fruition at a rapid pace. And I am blown away! I assure you that the things coming are not of me because Chrissie could not do these things on her own. The things transpiring are all God; He receives all of the glory!

Over the next few months, I’ll share some exciting details of how He is working and what He has in store for Humble Faith Ministries. This fall, significant changes are coming! On Monday, I get to reveal to you the very first thing the Lord did in preparation for His plans! So, be sure to check back then!

Today, I want to invite you to be part of what God has planned for Humble Faith Ministries. If you haven’t “followed” us yet on social media, please do that today so that You don’t miss seeing God in action! Also, if you know someone who desires a relationship with God, invite her to join our community!

Get ready, friends—God is doing a new thing!
