Abiding in the Refuge of Hope

I am not one to have a list of New Year’s resolutions prepared in advance. Usually, you will find me remembering a few days into the new year that I should probably use the fresh start as an opportunity to start some new intentions. An opportunity to self-assess, talk to my husband, and ask him what I or we could be doing differently or better.

I tend to choose one area that I know is a problem area for me in my current season. I focus more energy on making better habits around that. It may be reading, quiet times, social media usage, shopping habits, home-keeping habits, decluttering or establishing new routines with my kids. This can vary a lot from year to year, depending on what I feel is most important to focus on in that period. I often do this at the beginning of a new month or season as well. But it feels even more important to visit this with the start of a new year.

In 2023, I hope to run to the Lord and see Him as my refuge from the chaos of the world.

“Preserve me, O God, for in you I take refuge. I say to the Lord,

‘You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you.’”

Psalm 16:1‭-‬2 (ESV)

Gracie Warren is a stay-at-home wife and mom of 3 little boys. Her life is full of diapers, messes, and lots of little hugs and cuddles. She believes mothering little ones is good and sanctifying work. She is thankful that the Lord has given her this calling as a gift and hopes to inspire and spur you on in your own journey as she shares bits of what God has shown her along the way.
